Avocado, Cream Cheese and Sweet Hot Sauce on Grilled Garlic Toast

Whip up a few as appetizers early on at your next grilling party and see if your guests don’t scarf them up immediately.

I think just about any sweet hot sauce should work with this super-simple hot sauce recipe. I have tried it with 3 of the sauces that I have reviewed on this blog so far and liked the results with all three.  Of the three, Tropical Chile Company Hot n’ Honey Hot Sauce was the best:

Bee Sting Honey n’ Habanero Pepper Sauce

Jungle Jim’s Peachy Peach Hot Sauce

Tropical Chile Company Hot n’ Honey Hot Sauce

Avocado, Cream Cheese and Sweet Hot Sauce on Grilled Garlic Toast

Ingredients

  • Good Bread (I use Sourdough, but any good chewy bread will work.)
  • Garlic, minced
  • Butter or Olive Oil
  • Avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced
  • Cream Cheese
  • Your favorite Sweet Hot Sauce
  • Coarse Grind Sea Salt

Directions

  1. Slice the bread into squares of about 2 inches x 2 inches (I like to cut off the crusts and feed them to my dogs. I think it gets a little to crisp on the grill. But you decide for yourself.)
  2. Melt the butter if using.
  3. Combine the butter or olive oil with the minced garlic.
  4. Brush the oil/garlic mixture onto the bread slices. Here’s a tip you can use for this and other recipes — Brush the oil only in the center of the slice. Really coat it good, but don’t go all the way to the edges. Leave about 1/4 inch all around. This will make the center become nice and chewy while the outer rim toasts up crisp enough to be easily lifted up to eat.
  5. Toast the bread slices on a medium hot grill or in the oven. Not too done — just golden.
  6. Smear a bit of cream cheese on each slice.
  7. Place a couple of avocado slices on the cream cheese.
  8. Dust the avocado with just a very small amount of the sea salt.
  9. Drizzle with your sweet hot sauce.
  10. Serve.
