Hot Sauce Hot Spot #1 – Jungle Jim’s International Market, Cincinnati, OH

Jungle Jim’s International Market is a supermarket located just North-West of Cincinnati in Fairfield. (UPDATE — There is now a second Jungle Jim’s on the East side of Cincy in Eastgate.)

But saying Jungle Jim’s is “only a supermarket” is like saying the Superbowl is only a football game.

And it is absolute heaven for hot sauce lovers, chileheads… and foodies in general.

Heck it should impress and delight the whole family..including the kids.

Trust me on this,  no matter what kind of food you enjoy, Jungle Jim’s is a “Do Not Miss” if you are anywhere near the Cincy area.

I never do.

Why should you make a special trip to visit a supermarket?

Well, let’s see.

First there is the size:  Jungle Jim’s is HUGE.  It is 6 acres!  That’s not including the parking lot — That’s 6 acres of food.  Inside. And it’s presently expanding.

Then there are the departments and selections. Everything is “OMG” big.

How about the Cheese Shoppe? Would you believe more than 1,200 hand cut cheeses from 40 countries.

Wines? 12,000 labels and City Beat’s “Best of Cincinnati 2009.”  Remember this is just one “department” in Jungle Jims.

Or how about 2 different candy departments? Yes, two.  One for children and one for adults.

But, since you are reading this blog, I suspect you are interested in something else, aren’t you?

Jungle Jim’s Hot Sauce Selection

Jungle Jim’s hot sauce selection is possibly the largest selection in the world.  There are over 1,400 brands to choose from – all sitting under a vintage fire engine.

Not to mention 1,200 different beers and brews, dozens of kinds of live seafood, a natural foods section bigger than most health food stores and more than 50,000 imported grocery items from more than 75 countries and regions around the world.

That’s how a “supermarket” becomes a “must see.”

People actually go out of their way or even make a special trip to Cincinnati to visit.  How do I know?  I know because that’s what I do at least twice a year.  But then, I only live an hour and 1/2 away.

If you find yourself anywhere near Cincinnati — especially in the summertime — be sure to visit Jungle Jim’s with the whole family.

You’ll all be glad you did.

Oh, and one more thing – Be sure you checkout the restrooms.  Yes, the restrooms.  They won an award. 😉
